Here are some troubleshooting tips, if you system isn’t working properly:
Ice that has a bad taste or unpleasant odor can affect the flavor of beverages. This is causes by a dirty filter. Be sure to change the filter at least every 6 months or sooner, depending on the volume of ice used.
Not Making Enough Ice
If your ice maker is not making ice as quickly as normal, check for a frozen line. If lines are frozen, the unit will need to be defrosted. Also, has the temperature of you room changed? If the room is unusually warm, it will take longer for ice to make.
Not Making Any Ice
If your ice machine quit making ice altogether, first be sure the unit is turned on. Then, make sure the thermostat is set to the correct temperature. If it is still not making ice, check for clogged lines. Lines could be clogged or frozen. If lines are frozen, the unit will need to be defrosted. If still not making ice, you should call the pros.
If you see water pooling on the floor near your machine, the unit could be leaking. Verify that the machine is level. Check for damaged pipes. Also, check the filler cup to be sure it is seated correctly.
If water is pooling inside the ice machine, it could be caused by a faulty valve. Are the cubes larger than usual? This could be a sign of a faulty valve and can cause the evaporator to become clogged.
Low Water Flow
Smaller than normal ice cubes is a sign that the unit is not getting enough water. Check for a clogged line and verify that the water supply coming into the machine is flowing properly.
Your ice machine will freeze up if the water freezes before getting to the ice maker mold. Verify that the temperature is set correctly. If temperature is correct and machine is still freezing up, you should call your repairman.
